On May 24, 2022, at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, 18-year-old former student Salvador Ramos shot and killed nineteen students and two teachers, and injured seventeen others.
Uvalde is a mostly Hispanic city of over 15,000 people in the South of Texas; it is about 60 miles east of the Mexican border and about 85 miles west of San Antonio. According to his father, Ramos had a girlfriend who lived in San Antonio.
Born May 16, 2004, in Fargo, North Dakota, Salvador Rolando Ramos’ fourth grade classroom is the same room where he was killed by police. He was frequently bullied at school about his limited wardrobe, stutter, and haircut, as well as his families perceived poverty.
